Giro takes its popular knit technology and adds to it a limited edition Olive Heather colorway creating the one-of-a-kind Empire E70 Studio Collection Shoes. Weve already sung the praises of the E70 before as it offers exceptional comfort, support, and superior breathability thats appreciated on long weekend rides and quick spins after work alike. As with the rest of the knit shoes weve seen from Giro lately, its able to craft a lightweight yet super-durable upper that easily contours to your foot and offers a near custom fit thanks to its use of laces for the closure. Other athletic disciplines use knit technology in footwear because its stretch, support, and breathability offer tangible benefits. We have yet to see it in cycling shoes because—as we all know—cycling demands unique requirements for footwear. Giro solves this with the Xnetic Knit upper. It employs a rigid TPU support skeleton that is structurally designed for cycling and wraps it with DWR-treated Xnetic Knit for water repellency, easy cleaning, and a glove-like fit. TPU reinforcements are utilized at the toe and heel, adding durability off the bike or if you happen to have a little toe and tire overlap at low speeds. Following the—ahem—footsteps of other Empire shoes, this one features a traditional lace closure for a customized fit and low weight. The sole of the Empire E70 utilizes Eastons E70 unidirectional carbon composite, which doesnt flinch during 4-digit watt sprints, and its light enough that youll be dancing on the pedals on the ascents. The Giro Empire E70 Knit Road Shoe is compatible with 3-bolt cleats and road pedals and comes in whole and half sizes between 39. 0 to 47. 0 and whole sizes in 48. 0, 49. 0, and 50. 0.
